Virginia City is an incredible place. Once a gold and silver town, it reflects its old glory today with parades, battle re-enactments, train rides and a bustling town filled with memorabilia, shops and restaurants. I've been there many times over the years for many events and I plan to keep on going. If you're ever in the neighborhood, drive the windy road up to the city carved in the side of a mountain.

California rain!

It's a gusher! The rain last week in California literally came down in waves. The creek in front of the house where we stayed swelled to triple its normal size and threatened to creep towards the house. I gallantly went outside to take photos but it was much nicer to stay inside the warm interior. The weather guys said we had 1.4 inches of rain but you could have fooled me. Many more days like this would be great to rid California of this horrible drought. 

A little rain is good for the soul, right? Unless we've got a flood on our hands. Fingers crossed...

The Snaffle Bit Futurity at the Livestock Events Center in Reno, Nevada was the place to be for watching cattle horses herding their finest.
Saddles, cowboys and horses were alive in the Wild West for this high stakes competition. Big purse, big prizes, big winners.
